With climate change staring us in the face, people are becoming increasingly eco-consciousness and realizing how their choices are affecting the future of their planet. Historically, increasing tourism footfalls lead to a corresponding degradation in the tourist environment. However, some governments and companies in the Middle East are rapidly changing this paradigm and creating tourism locations that are truly sustainable in the long run. This award recognises the tourism authority that has created an enabling environment, incentivising eco-tourism that is green and clean while providing travellers with outstanding holiday experiences.
